Mario Kart World Open: Mexico times and how to enter the October 17–18 event

Arte oficial de Mario Kart World: Nintendo.

Mario Kart World is holding an online Open on October 17–18. For Mexico City, the entry window runs from Saturday at 3 p.m. to Sunday at 7 p.m. Nintendo publishes the same window as 2 p.m. Saturday through 6 p.m. Sunday Pacific time. This is a participation window, not one race with a single simultaneous start.

Open Online Play, use the minus-button event search and enter event ID 4450. The requirements include Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World, an internet connection, a Nintendo Account and an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. Access to the competition does not provide the game or console for free.

Know the rules before using your attempts

The announced settings are 150 cc, individual racing without teams, normal items and no computer-controlled racers. Participants have a maximum of 32 races. Plan around that limit: leaving everything until the closing minutes reduces the time available to complete attempts or fix a connection problem.

This Open is a qualifier on the road to December’s Fall Cup. Prize eligibility varies by territory: the listed minimum age is 18 in Mexico and 13 in the United States and Canada. Taking part, appearing in the standings and earning a place in a later stage are different outcomes. The full rules explain eligibility and how places are handled when a player has already qualified.

A useful preparation checklist

Update the game before Saturday, make sure membership remains active for both days and complete a practice online race. If considering a Nintendo Switch Online trial, first check account eligibility and renewal conditions. Do not assume a trial automatically adds time to an existing membership or applies to every account.

Nintendo also lists 50 My Nintendo Platinum Points for eligible participants, with redemption expected around October 27. These are not cash. Keep the official event and rules pages handy for any changes. A calendar reminder using your actual time zone is safer than copying a US time without its zone label, especially for readers following the event from Mexico and the United States.
