Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen launches this October 9 with additional content for Capcom’s RPG and an edition that bundles the base game with the expansion. The company’s announcement includes PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. If you already own Dragon’s Dogma 2, the first step is to check which product you’re buying: an expansion and a complete collection are not the same thing.

Its arrival on Switch 2 applies to this installment. It is not the series’ debut on a Nintendo console: that claim would confuse Dragon’s Dogma 2 with the first Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. The similar names make it especially useful to check the full title, platform, and included items before paying.

Norgan and twelve dungeons expand the adventure

The official description on Steam presents Forsaken Dominion as a new story set in Norgan, a snowy region to the north. Eir appears there, and the Relics of the Fallen Dragon come into play, linked to new weapons and abilities. This is narrative and exploration content that expands the game world, not just a change to the character’s appearance.

Lost Rites adds twelve dungeons spread across the main area, with gear and challenges tied to the Pathfinder. The package also expands the character creator’s options, including hairstyles and tattoos. These are three different types of additions: a region with a story, challenges to tackle across familiar territory, and customization. They won’t all matter equally to someone who has already finished the campaign.

If you already own the game, check the package

Steam lists a collection of four items: Dragon’s Dogma 2, Dark Arisen, Explorer’s Camping Kit, and Custom Sounds. Seeing them bundled in the store doesn’t mean that someone who already owns the base game needs to buy it again. Before checking out, review your library’s contents and the description of the option for your platform.

We won’t convert the price from a store operating in another region to Mexican pesos. The price, discounts, and package presentation may vary by platform. We also don’t treat cosmetic or sound add-ons as requirements for accessing the full new story: it’s worth reading exactly what each edition includes.

Unlock time depends on the platform

PC Gamer listed the PC unlock time as 17:00 Pacific on October 8, equivalent to 18:00 in Mexico City. For PlayStation, it listed midnight local time on the 9th. Those times shouldn’t automatically be extrapolated to Xbox or Switch 2; the final reference is the availability shown by the store on the system where you’ll play.

The expansion retains as its starting point a single-player RPG accompanied by pawns controlled by the game. Taking companions along on the adventure is not the same as an online co-op campaign with friends. This article describes the announced content and its sale; it is not a review. Performance, difficulty, and length will need to be assessed in the specific version people play.
