The Houston Texans confirmed on October 12 that they acquired wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. in a trade with the Arizona Cardinals. The team also waived Jared Wayne. The transaction notice confirms the move but does not provide enough detail to state how many draft picks changed hands.

The move attracts attention because of Harrison’s talent and his reunion with C.J. Stroud. Prior familiarity can help communication, but a professional offense still requires learning terminology, adjustments and specific responsibilities. Knowing the quarterback does not automatically mean mastering every read in a different system.

The production behind the headline

Harrison’s official profile records 62 catches for 885 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024. In 2025, it lists 41 catches, 608 yards and four touchdowns across 12 games. The 2026 entry shows five receptions, 85 yards and one touchdown over four appearances. Those numbers describe production; they do not fully explain changes in his involvement.

The current-year sample is small. Dividing 85 yards by five catches produces 17 yards per reception, but that average alone does not establish a strong season. Targets, routes, game situation and playing time would add context. An attractive average can obscure low volume when presented without its denominator.

What to watch in his first Houston appearances

The most useful early signals will be how often he plays, which situations bring him onto the field and whether targets arrive across different parts of a game. An immediate touchdown would make a strong headline. Consistent involvement on third downs and sustained drives could say more about his integration.

A roster place is not a guarantee of an immediate major role. Weekly availability and deployment remain team decisions. Fantasy players should check official injury reports and game-day active lists rather than assume a production jump simply because the trade happened. Houston has created a new opportunity for the receiver; the opening weeks will reveal how that opportunity becomes actual assignments and results. Keeping the confirmed transaction separate from projections makes those developments easier to assess.
