San Francisco faces the Washington Commanders without Nick Bosa or Deebo Samuel, who were included on the official inactive list released by the NFL for Week 6’s Monday Night Football game. Their absences leave the 49ers without both players for the game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The announcement confirms they are unavailable for this game but does not state the reason for either absence. It should not be interpreted as a decision about their participation in later games, either: the list applies only to the matchup against Washington.

San Francisco came into this game with five wins in its first five games, after beating the Seattle Seahawks 32-29. The team was looking to maintain its perfect record against the Commanders, who came in with one win, three losses and one tie.

Confirmed inactives for both teams

In addition to Bosa and Samuel, San Francisco’s list includes quarterback Kurtis Rourke, offensive lineman Enrique Cruz Jr., linebacker Garret Wallow, safety Marques Sigle and defensive lineman Naquan Jones. In all, seven players are on the 49ers’ inactive list.

Washington ruled out quarterback Marcus Mariota, cornerbacks Fabian Moreau and Isaac Yiadom, defensive ends T.J. Maguranyanga and Charles Omenihu, and guard Tanoa Togiai. The announcement establishes which players are unavailable to the Commanders for this trip to Santa Clara.

Washington was coming off a tie 27-27 against the New York Giants, while San Francisco was seeking its sixth win of the season. That was the competitive context for the game; the inactive list does not confirm a result or allow any specific effect to be attributed to these absences.
