The iPhone Duo enters a market where Samsung already has experience. For this comparison we selected the wide-format Galaxy Z Fold8, the closest match in size and everyday use, rather than the Fold8 Ultra or Flip8. The first important difference appears before either device opens: Samsung weighs 53 grams less.
The second is price. At 512GB, the Duo costs MXN 52,999 and the Fold8 is listed at MXN 48,499 in Samsung’s Mexican store, a MXN 4,500 difference. Prices were checked on October 18, 2026, excluding trade-ins, financing and personalized promotions. This assessment compares specifications and usefulness; it is not a hands-on test of both devices.

Charging figures come from separate manufacturer tests, not a race measured by evovo. The specified adapter is a test requirement, not a promise that the phone continuously draws that wattage throughout charging.
The open-screen diagonal matches; pocketability does not
Both have 7.6-inch inner displays, but the same diagonal does not guarantee equal usable space in every application. Panel proportions, interface bars and app layouts determine how much content actually fits. For reading documents or keeping two tasks visible, check the applications you use every day.
Samsung has two measurable physical advantages on the specification sheet: 201 grams versus 254, and 9.7 millimeters folded versus 11.3. That is 53 grams and 1.6 millimeters less. Comfort still depends on your hand and case, but these differences explain why the Fold8 may appeal more to someone carrying it in a pocket all day.

Cameras are not an automatic reason to spend more
The Duo combines 48-megapixel main and ultra-wide cameras; Samsung uses two 50-megapixel cameras. That small resolution gap cannot settle a purchase. Both derive their 2x optical-quality option from the main camera. Neither of these two models has a dedicated telephoto lens.
If you shoot concerts from a distance, sports from the stands or wildlife, that limitation matters more than the hinge. A conventional phone with a telephoto camera may be a better candidate. Everyday image quality still requires comparisons of motion, skin tones and low-light scenes before declaring a winner.
Battery, protection and the devices you already use
Apple advertises up to 31 hours of video on the inner display, while Samsung specifies a 4,800mAh battery. Those are not directly comparable measures and cannot rank actual endurance. Useful testing would measure both with the large screen active, mobile data and the same applications.
Protection differs too: the Duo carries IP68 and the Fold8 IP48. The first digit matters for solid-particle ingress; IP48 is not a dust-tight rating. Neither phone should be treated as indestructible or protected against every drop or liquid. Repair arrangements, cases and caring for a flexible screen belong in the ownership calculation.
The operating system may matter more than the processor. The Duo makes sense when your applications and accessories revolve around the iPhone; the Fold8 suits someone preferring Android and its multitasking. Check work and banking applications before moving platforms. Duo buyers also need to confirm eSIM support with their carrier.
Verdict: Samsung starts ahead on weight and price
We would choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 when the priority is buying this kind of foldable now, with less weight and a lower price at equal storage. That does not automatically make it the camera, performance or battery-life winner.
The iPhone Duo makes more sense for someone seeking a larger screen while staying with Apple who accepts the price difference. Preorders are open, with arrival announced for October 23. Its MXN 47,999 starting price buys 256GB: comparing that directly with Samsung’s 512GB model would hide a meaningful difference.
For either device, one question matters most: what will you do with the unfolded screen that is awkward on your current phone? If the answer is simply viewing a bigger screen occasionally, think carefully before paying foldable prices.
