The iPhone 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro target people who want a flagship without stepping up to a Max-sized phone. Xiaomi emphasizes a 7,000mAh battery, high-resolution cameras and a rear display. Apple brings variable aperture, a dedicated telephoto camera and official Mexican sales. Comparing their prices, however, takes more than converting yuan into pesos.

This is a specification-based comparison with editorial analysis, not a hands-on laboratory test. We compare the standard Pro models without mixing in Pro Max specifications. Data and prices were checked on October 18, 2026.

Cameras: megapixels cannot settle the contest

The iPhone’s main camera has variable aperture, letting it change how much light enters and the depth of field. That is a practical tool for someone who wants more control over a photograph. Its dedicated telephoto camera is 4x. Apple’s advertised 8x optical-quality option is not a second 8x optical lens.

Xiaomi puts two 200-megapixel sensors in a three-camera Leica system. That resolution offers potential for detail and cropping; it does not establish that the resulting photographs are better. A moving child, a dark concert or city lights demand good focusing and processing, not simply more pixels.

For deliberate photography, the iPhone’s variable aperture is a concrete reason to consider it. For someone exploring a different camera proposition and a rear display, Xiaomi offers an interesting alternative. Deciding an image-quality winner still requires comparable photographs.

Displays, gaming and battery are separate decisions

The gap between 6.3-inch and 6.4-inch main displays is small in diagonal size. Xiaomi’s more distinctive addition sits on the back: a 2.7-inch second screen. Before paying for it, consider whether it will become part of your routine or a novelty you stop checking. The front privacy mode has an immediately understandable purpose: limiting what someone beside you can see.

For gaming, A20 Pro and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 place both phones in the flagship class. A processor name alone cannot tell us which holds its frame rate better after half an hour. Heat, power consumption and each game’s optimization matter. We are not awarding a performance victory without equivalent measurements.

Xiaomi’s 7,000mAh figure measures battery capacity. The iPhone’s 36-hour video figure describes a runtime estimate under Apple’s conditions. These are different units. Xiaomi’s capacity is appealing on paper, but it cannot establish a particular percentage advantage in real-world endurance.

The final Mexican price changes the equation

The 256GB iPhone 18 Pro starts at MXN 29,999 in Apple’s Mexican store. Xiaomi lists the 18 Pro from CNY 5,999 in China. We did not find an official Mexican offer for this model at the time of writing. The Chinese price does not necessarily cover shipping, applicable import taxes or an importer’s charges.

Before choosing a Chinese unit, check the exact variant, your carrier’s bands, language support, required applications and who handles warranty claims or returns. An imported version should not be assumed to work identically to a potential local version.

Our verdict

iPhone 18 Pro: the easier recommendation today for a Mexican buyer already using Apple devices who wants an official local purchasing channel. Its photographic controls offer practical value without needing to win a megapixel contest.

Xiaomi 18 Pro: the more unusual proposition thanks to its battery, cameras and second display. It makes sense for someone comfortable with importing who specifically wants those features. We would not call it the cheaper purchase without a final peso quotation and clear warranty terms.
