NVIDIA announced a more efficient artificial intelligence model for DLSS 5, which will debut on 16 October with the 2 season of NBA 2K27. The company says it will enable up to 1.4 times the frame rate in that game: an improvement aimed at delivering smoother gameplay when using its neural rendering technology.

That result amounts to an increase of up to 40%, but its scope is specific: it is the figure NVIDIA announced for NBA 2K27, not a promise for all compatible titles. These are figures from the manufacturer, not an independent performance test.

The rollout also includes RTX Remix, NVIDIA’s platform for creating graphics modifications for games, which will receive DLSS 5 and the new model on 23 October. Hogwarts Legacy will add it on 5 November, while Where Winds Meet is scheduled to integrate it later this year.

The improvement for RTX 40 is a separate announcement

Separately, NVIDIA released a performance mode for DLSS 4.5 frame generation in beta. It is compatible with the GeForce RTX 40, RTX 50, and RTX Spark laptops; it should not be confused with the new DLSS 5 model.

This option appears as Preset C in NVIDIA app and replaces one of the AI models with a lighter algorithm. The company reports up to 35% more performance on an RTX 5060, in exchange for minor compromises in image quality. To try it, you need to enable the app’s beta features and select that setting in a compatible game.
