Google announced a redesign of Play Store for cars with Google built-in. The store will adjust its interface to the vehicle’s screen and change how apps are presented, with the goal of making them easier to find and download from the dashboard. The update will arrive in the coming weeks.

The home page will show featured apps that can be downloaded with one tap. The menu will bring together the Apps, Games, Search, and More options: it will appear on the left side or at the top when the screen is in portrait orientation. This means the arrangement of the controls will depend on each screen’s format.

The changes are aimed at vehicles with Google built-in, which integrate Google services and native apps directly into the car. The official announcement places this redesign within an expansion of Google Play to different types of devices, beyond phones.

Apps such as Firefox, Starz, Ludo King, and JioHotstar will also be added for use while the vehicle is parked. On YouTube, Premium subscribers will be able to watch videos while parked and continue listening to audio only when they start driving. This playback continuity will be reserved for subscribers.
