The fight between Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and Christian Mbilli will air on free-to-air television in Mexico. TV Azteca confirmed it will broadcast the bout scheduled for Saturday, October 31, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, giving fans an option to watch without purchasing a pay-per-view.
The announcement does not yet include a broadcast time or specify whether the network will show the entire event. Therefore, confirmation of the main event should not be taken as a guarantee of access to every bout on the card or of a live broadcast.
Canelo and Mbilli will compete for the World Boxing Council super middleweight world championship, at 168 pounds. The Mexican fighter will seek to win the belt currently held by the Frenchman.
The free-to-air broadcast marks a change for those who watched Álvarez fight Terence Crawford, which was exclusively streamed on Netflix. For this new event, TV Azteca is once again including the Guadalajara native in its boxing programming.
