Hogwarts Legacy will add DLSS 5 on 5 November, NVIDIA announced. The update will add AI-powered neural rendering to modify lighting and material details, with an integration that Avalanche Software tuned to preserve the artistic intent and style of the game.
The announced support includes GeForce RTX 50 series cards, RTX Spark laptops, and GeForce NOW. The game already supports other DLSS technologies, such as Multi Frame Generation and Ray Reconstruction; those features will also receive their latest versions with the update.
The difference lies in what each tool does. While other DLSS features reconstruct images at higher resolutions or generate additional frames, neural rendering uses the frame produced by the game engine as a base to add lighting and details with AI. NVIDIA says developers have controls to decide how this processing is applied.
Hogwarts Legacy will use a new model that, according to NVIDIA, processes neural rendering twice as fast and reduces video memory usage by 20% in 4K compared with the September version. These are the manufacturer’s figures for that feature, not a promise to double the game’s frames per second.
The model will debut first in NBA 2K27 on 16 October and will be the default version in upcoming games with DLSS 5. NVIDIA also confirmed that Where Winds Meet will incorporate the technology in late November.
