Prince Harry reiterated that he wants to repair his relationship with his father, King Charles III, and his brother William in an interview with GQ published this October 20. The message comes after his family’s return to the UK, but expresses an intention to reconnect, not a reconciliation that has already taken place.

This is not the first time he has expressed that wish: Harry had already spoken about reconciling in a May 2025 interview, when he was living in the United States. In this new conversation, conducted in New York in September, he again defended the importance of resolving family differences in the face of the other problems in the world.

In explaining the return to the UK, the Duke of Sussex mentioned the opportunities for his family and how important it had become to him for his children to attend British schools. He said they were enjoying that time and that he valued giving them a different cultural experience, as well as being able to spend longer periods in the UK and near his family.

On his differences with his father and brother, Harry said he believed the relationships could be repaired, although he acknowledged that difficult experiences leave their mark. He also explained that sibling disagreements and complicated parent-child relationships are situations many people recognize in their own lives; that is why he understands the public’s interest in how they might resolve them.

One of his comments—that some people do not want things to be resolved—prompted a clarification from his spokesperson. The Sussexes’ representative specified that it was a general reflection and was not directed at William or any other member of the royal family.

The publication coincided with the Sultan of Oman’s reception in Windsor during a state visit. The spokesperson said the conversation had been recorded in late September and that the magazine had decided when to publish it, and asked people not to read anything into the coincidence.
