Cyberpunk 2077 will get a new free update on October 22. CD Projekt RED announced that version 2.5 will arrive that day on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 and new features that will expand combat and customization options.

The release will not be simultaneous on all platforms: Nintendo Switch 2 will receive the patch later, with no specific date announced yet. Players on that console will have to wait to access the additions announced for this week.

Two weapons and more cyberware options

Among the announced features is a new play style that will let players wield a weapon in each hand. There will also be additional options for customizing cyberware, the character’s technological implants. These are two specific changes announced for the RPG, in addition to the anime-related content.

The connection to Edgerunners 2 will coincide with the premiere on Netflix of the production by CD Projekt and animation studio Trigger. The update will bring elements of that universe into the video game, although a detailed breakdown of its additions will be presented in a dedicated livestream.

CD Projekt scheduled that RED Streams livestream for Wednesday, October 21, one day before the patch launches. It can be watched on the company’s YouTube and Twitch channels and will provide a closer look at the features in version 2.5 before players download it.
