Edson Álvarez has yet to feature in West Ham’s league matches this season. The Mexican midfielder has played just one cup match and has also been left out of the Championship squads, in England’s second division: his lack of playing time goes beyond being left on the bench.
His only appearance came in the English League Cup, also known as the EFL Cup or Carabao Cup. That match has not led to a regular role in a team seeking to return to the Premier League.
The situation contrasts with his previous spell on loan at Fenerbahçe. Back at West Ham, Álvarez remains absent from league squads; his limited involvement is documented, but there is not enough evidence to attribute it to a club punishment.
