Apple TV 4K 2026: a stronger audio proposition than an automatic upgrade

The new Apple TV 4K, announced October 13, has an official Mexican price of MXN 6,299. Apple lists November 13 as the start of availability in the US and other markets, while its Mexican page still asks customers to check availability later. We are not presenting that date as confirmed local delivery.

The fourth generation adds A19, AV1 decoding and a Siri Remote that can be located through Find My. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ remain, alongside new surround support for four compatible HomePods arranged in matching front and rear pairs. Apple claims CPU and GPU improvements; these are not evovo measurements.

Brief review: what would it fix in your living room?

Our initial assessment starts with a question. Does your television struggle to open apps, is your current player inadequate, or do you want to reorganize your audio? Without an identifiable need, another device playing the same content can add expense without meaningfully changing the experience.

For someone who uses the living room daily, the update deserves a closer look. The remote is what you touch every time you watch a film. Finding it easily may matter more than a processor improvement you rarely notice. Audio follows the same logic: placement and the balance between dialogue and effects matter more than collecting supported-format logos.

Do not leave out the rest of the bill

A new setup with four HomePod mini 2 speakers at MXN 2,999 each and this Apple TV totals MXN 18,295. Owning compatible speakers already changes that calculation. Starting from scratch, we would compare the entire package with a complete audio solution and decide where every component will sit before buying.

AV1 can improve playback efficiency when both the service and content use it. It does not promise to lower every internet bill or fix an unstable connection on its own. Subscriptions remain a separate expense: purchasing the player does not automatically unlock the catalogs displayed on it.

Our provisional verdict

We find it more appealing for building an integrated room than for replacing a recent Apple TV that works well. Siri AI features in the US announcement, but we are not transferring those availability promises to Mexico. Real app responsiveness, audio stability and remote handling still need testing before an unreserved recommendation. If your existing device does its job, waiting for those measurements is reasonable.
