New York Comic Con brought two announcements for readers looking to start a new superhero series: Marvel is preparing an ongoing Captain Marvel series with G. Willow Wilson and Rachael Stott, while DC introduced Absolute Justice, the project that will bring together the heroes of its Absolute universe.

The difference between the two announcements matters when putting together a reading list. Captain Marvel already has an announced release month, May 2027; coverage of DC’s panel confirms the team-up between characters, but isn’t enough to consider all the publishing details circulating around the project finalized.

Carol Danvers gets a new creative team

Marvel’s announcement, released after the Bullpen Bulletins panel, names Wilson as writer and Stott as artist. It’s an ongoing series, not a one-off appearance by Carol in another hero’s title. The first issue is announced for May.

The story follows the next stage of Avengers, by Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto, and picks up the consequences of Avengers: Armageddon. Marvel teases that Carol will have to question what she understands being Captain Marvel to mean as a threat that has been operating in the shadows for some time prepares to emerge.

That description is the premise of the launch, not a review of issues that haven’t come out yet. Nor does it determine how many previous comics will be essential to understanding it. The announcement confirms the creators, lead character, and release window; the issue synopses will later make it possible to clarify how each installment connects.

Absolute Justice will bring together DC’s heroes

At DC’s panel, Jason Aaron explained that the team-up comes after the characters’ individual worlds have been developed. According to AIPT’s on-site coverage, J’onn J’onzz, this continuity’s Martian Manhunter, will play a central role in bringing them together.

The creators also said that Absolute Justice won’t interrupt the ongoing series with issues devoted to a mandatory crossover. For readers, that signals a specific editorial intent: to preserve space for each series’ stories while building toward the team-up.

The Absolute line features its own versions and circumstances for the heroes. So this announcement shouldn’t be confused with a new edition of any Justice League series in the main continuity. The project’s name and the line it belongs to are useful details when searching for or preordering it.

What readers in Mexico can note

For Captain Marvel, the confirmed reference is the edition Marvel announced for May 2027. That date alone doesn’t guarantee a simultaneous Spanish-language release, a price in Mexico, or immediate availability at every store.

For Absolute Justice, the information confirmed here is the announcement of the team-up and the intention to keep the ongoing series independent. This article doesn’t treat uncorroborated dates, length, or additional credits as finalized details. Both projects already have a reason to follow them; readers can wait for the publishers’ final listings before placing orders or making purchases.
