Black Clover and The Apothecary Diaries return to Crunchyroll’s fall lineup with very different offerings. Asta and the Magic Knights resume the conflict in the Spade Kingdom; Maomao faces a new investigation. Whether you’re choosing between the two or planning to watch both, it helps to know what continuity they require and which day their episodes arrive.

October’s subtitled schedule puts Black Clover on Saturdays at 08:00 Pacific Time and The Apothecary Diaries on Fridays at the same time. In Mexico City, that corresponds to 09:00 during October. The conversion should be checked again when daylight saving time changes in the US Pacific time zone: Mexico’s local time does not automatically change with it.

Black Clover continues an ongoing story

The season promoted as Black Clover Season 2 keeps Studio Pierrot in charge of the animation. The official synopsis has Asta and the Magic Knights raiding the Spade Kingdom to rescue their captains from the Dark Triad. This clarifies the scope of the return: it does not reintroduce Asta from scratch or serve as a reboot of the story.

An interview published by Crunchyroll with director Ayataka Tanemura frames the new installment as a continuation of Asta and the Black Bulls’ adventures. For anyone who fell behind, a useful refresher is to remember the group’s relationships and the conflict that leads to Spade. Jumping straight into this installment may leave out motivations the series has already developed.

The appeal of that continuity lies in seeing what the characters do with the abilities and bonds they have built. The anticipation does not depend only on the arrival of a stronger enemy, but also on how the confrontations involving a large cast are brought together. This is a way to watch the adaptation, not a premature assessment of fights this article is not reviewing.

Maomao changes settings but keeps her way of investigating

The third season of The Apothecary Diaries is split into two broadcast blocks. The first began on October 2, 2026, and the second is scheduled for April 2027. OLM is producing the animation, and Akinori Fudesaka is directing. The split explains why a break between blocks should not be mistaken for the season’s cancellation.

Maomao is known for solving mysteries through observation and her knowledge of pharmacy. This season’s premise introduces rumors of famine and an immortal lady-in-waiting. To follow this kind of story, the clues, who has access to information, and which interests affect each testimony all matter. It does not have the same pace or promises as a combat adventure.

Both are continuations. If you’re starting now, following the season order is more helpful than looking for a recap that reveals how each arc is resolved. If you were already following them, October offers a clear routine: Maomao on Friday and Asta on Saturday, with dub dates subject to their own announcements. The “fall season” label groups premieres; it does not mean they all share a day, language, or full schedule.
