The Saturday, October 10 card at Wintrust Arena features two title fights in different divisions: Floyd Schofield vs. Lucas Bahdi for the vacant WBA lightweight title and Ricardo Sandoval vs. Mexican Sergio Alfonso “Yoreme” Mendoza for the WBC and WBA flyweight championships.
DAZN will broadcast the event. The World Boxing Council announces a start time of 18:00 Mexico City time, equivalent to 20:00 Eastern time. That time refers to the broadcast block and does not guarantee the exact ring-walk time for each fight.
Sandoval’s opponent changed
Mendoza stepped in for Oscar Collazo, who withdrew because of a rib injury sustained during training, according to the WBC. Therefore, any cards that still list Collazo as Sandoval’s opponent are outdated.
The Sonoran challenger comes in with 27 wins, one loss and 23 knockouts. The Mexican-American champion has 27 wins, two losses and 18 knockouts. Both records appear on the World Boxing Association’s schedule.
Sandoval won the WBC championship by defeating Kenshiro Teraji in Japan on July 30, 2025. For Mendoza, this opportunity represents a step up from regional titles to a world title fight at 112 pounds, the flyweight limit.
Schofield and Bahdi seek a vacant title
The WBA lists the other matchup as a fight for its vacant world lightweight championship. Schofield is unbeaten with 19 wins and 13 knockouts; Bahdi is also undefeated, with 20 wins and 15 stoppages before the final bell.
The lightweight division has a maximum limit of 135 pounds. It is a different division from Sandoval and Mendoza’s flyweight class, so the two fights are not part of the same unification. They share a venue and card, but their belts belong to separate careers.
Both lightweights’ unbeaten records add interest to the matchup without deciding the outcome in advance. Their records show what they have achieved so far; the fight must determine who ends up with the vacant title.
How to plan your viewing
For Mexico, the listed start time is 18:00 on DAZN. Check the access terms that apply to your account and territory. The duration of the preceding bouts may move the fighters’ appearance earlier or later, so it is not advisable to set an alarm assuming the event’s start time is that of the main event.
The WBC also lists Tristan Kallkreuth vs. Ivan Rosado, Grant Flores vs. Mikey Dahlman, Asa Stevens vs. Cristian Williams and Joshua Edwards vs. Craig Lewis on the undercard.
The event opens another stretch of activity for Mexican boxing fans to follow. The unification bout between Emanuel Navarrete and O’Shaquie Foster is scheduled for October 24 in San Antonio; you can find the details in our month-end schedule.
