Harry Kane reached 125 appearances for England’s men’s national team on October 6, tying Peter Shilton’s record. He did it with two goals in the 3–0 win over Czechia at Wembley, a night that raised his international tally to 91. The milestone combines two different dimensions: remaining available and selected for years, and continuing to decide matches in attack.

The match opened with a Vladimír Coufal own goal in the 27 minute. Kane extended the lead in the 40 and scored again in the 57. The sequence left England with a two-goal margin before halftime, and the score was extended at the start of the second half. This account is based on the England Football match center.

A record for longevity and another for goals

The English federation calculates that Kane needed eleven years and 193 days to reach 125 international appearances. Shilton reached that mark in nineteen years and 224 days, between 1970 and 1990. The comparison helps put their careers in perspective, but also serves as a reminder that they belong to different eras and schedules. Playing more matches in fewer years does not, by itself, amount to a quality ranking between a forward and a goalkeeper.

His brace gives him thirteen goals for England in 2026. According to the official statistics, only his own tally of sixteen in 2021 surpasses that figure in a calendar year. At 33 years and seventy days old, he also became the oldest England player to score twice in consecutive appearances.

91 goals in 125 matches works out to an approximate average of 0,73 per game, calculated from the federation’s totals. That average summarizes his career as a whole; it does not promise that he will score at that rate in every stretch: it combines different minutes, opponents, and match situations. What matters this time is that the appearance record came alongside immediate production.

What the result means for England

Thomas Tuchel reached twenty wins in his first 26 matches in charge of the team, another notable mark in the federation’s report. England has scored 39 goals in sixteen matches during 2026. These are two ways of looking at the same period: the frequency of wins and scoring ability, without reducing the team’s performance to the night of its captain.

In the Nations League, the 3–0 keeps England in pursuit of Spain. The defeat in the first meeting between the two national teams still weighs on the group, and November will bring the final two matchdays. The Group A3 standings explain the table and qualification for the quarterfinals.

Kane leaves Wembley tied for appearances and with his goals record extended. His next international appearance could put him alone at the top of the appearances list, but that mark will need to be recorded when he plays: reaching 125 does not yet turn the shared record into an outright one.
