Apple will open preorders for the iPhone Duo in Mexico on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. Mexico City time. The Mexican store confirms availability starting Friday the 23rd. Apple announced its first foldable phone on September 9; for anyone thinking about buying it, the immediate news is that an official local schedule and prices are now available.

In Mexico, it costs 47,999 pesos for 256 GB, 52,999 for 512 GB, 62,999 for 1 TB, and 77,999 for 2 TB, according to the Apple Store checked on October 9. These are prices to buy the device, not a conversion of the U.S. announcement price of 1,999 dollars or a financing installment. It’s worth comparing versions by storage capacity before adding cases or accessories.

Two screens and a different way to use apps

When closed, the iPhone Duo has a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR external display. Open it to reveal a 7.6-inch internal display with nanotexture. Apple advertises ProMotion and up to 3,000 nits of outdoor brightness on both. That extra space is the most visible difference from a conventional phone: it lets you view content in a larger format without carrying a separate tablet.

The phone runs on the A20 Pro chip, a thermal system with a vapor chamber, and a dual-battery architecture that, according to Apple, provides all-day battery life. It will come with iOS 27.1 and will support the USB-C Apple Pencil on both screens later this year. It will be sold in two colors, star white and midnight sky, and accepts eSIM only, with no physical tray.

eSIM and Touch ID: two details to check before preordering

The Duo uses Touch ID on the side button and connects via eSIM. The Mexican page says it does not support a physical SIM card. If your current line relies on a plastic SIM card, check with your carrier about the activation process and whether your plan is compatible; the fact that the brand sells the phone in Mexico is not enough. This is especially important when switching carriers or using a second line.

What’s been announced isn’t a hands-on test yet

Apple describes the battery life as sufficient for all day, but that promise doesn’t replace an independent test using comparable brightness, connectivity, and apps. The same goes for the hinge, crease visibility, and ease of switching between screens. Before treating the Duo as a phone-and-tablet replacement, it will be important to see how the apps you use every day perform.

Apple Pencil USB-C compatibility is announced for later this year, not as a feature that should be assumed to be available on day one. If that’s your main reason for buying, the update date matters as much as the preorder date. For anyone who simply wants to secure a device at launch, the two specific dates available today are October 16 for preorders and October 23 for availability in Mexico.
