Charros de Jalisco and Jaguares de Nayarit will open the 2026–27 Liga Mexicana del Pacífico season on October 13, at Estadio Panamericano in Zapopan. It will be the only game on opening day. The rest of the opening series will begin on the 14th and switch venues on the 15th.

There is a clear headliner to start the season: Charros comes in with two consecutive league titles and is preparing to defend them under manager Benjamín Gil. The goal of winning a third does not change the starting point on the schedule; the championship will have to be built over the new season, not on the record of previous ones.

Here’s how the first week is laid out

On October 14, Naranjeros visits Águilas, Yaquis visits Mayos, Algodoneros visits Cañeros, and Tomateros visits Venados. The venues switch on the 15th; that same day, Jaguares hosts Charros at Coloso del Pacífico. The schedule lets teams celebrate their home openers without everyone playing simultaneously on opening day.

For planning a trip to the stadium, the distinction between the visiting and home teams is essential. A general presentation of a series may list the same team first even when the venue changes. It’s a good idea to check the specific game on the club’s schedule before choosing a date, especially during this first week of openers.

What Jalisco is preparing to defend its title

In its project presentation, published by the league on September 14, Charros said it had invited 58 players to spring training: 37 pitchers, seven catchers, eight infielders, and six outfielders. The size of the group reflects the evaluation process, not a final roster of 58 players for each game.

The distinction matters because an invitation gives a player a chance to compete for a spot; it does not confirm ongoing availability or a place in the opening game. Performance, preparation, and sports decisions will determine how the team takes shape during the season. Presenting every invitee as a guaranteed starter would give a misleading impression.

The stadium is also getting ready

The club described hydraulic work, replacement of the artificial turf, and screens as part of the first phase of improvements to the Panamericano. The announced scope applies to that phase; it does not mean that any later expansion of the project will be complete by the first pitch.

The season offers two storylines that are easy to follow from the start: how the champion responds to the pressure of repeating and how the other clubs arrive to challenge for that spot. The first reference point will be Charros–Jaguares on October 13. After that, once all the series are underway, new results will provide a way to assess ambitions that, for now, remain preseason goals.
