The MLB postseason has Dodgers, Brewers, and Rays set to compete in the Championship Series. The fourth berth will be decided Saturday, 10 of October, between the Guardians and White Sox, who are tied 2–2 in their Division Series. The fifth game is scheduled in Cleveland at 18:00 Mexico City time, 20:00 in the U.S. Eastern time zone.
In the National League, the Dodgers will visit Milwaukee to open the Championship Series on Sunday, 11, also at 18:00 Mexico City time. MLB’s official schedule makes it possible to distinguish the American League’s decisive game from the start of a new round in the National League: they are not games in the same type of series.
How the three teams that have already advanced got here
The Dodgers eliminated Atlanta by three wins to one, closing out the series with a 4–1 victory. Milwaukee also settled its series in four games, with a 3–1 against San Diego in the game that secured its place. Both have a best-of-seven series ahead of them to decide the National League championship.
Tampa Bay swept the Yankees 3–0. The final game ended 4–3 on 7 of October in New York; the first two had been played in Tampa Bay. The entire series was not played at the Yankees’ home park, as a summary mentioning only where they were eliminated might suggest.
Cleveland took the series to a fifth game
The White Sox won the first two games, 3–0 and 4–3. The Guardians responded with wins in 9–3 and 9–5 to tie the series. That sequence explains why the game on 10 of October is an elimination game for both teams: in a best-of-five Division Series, the third win ends the matchup.
The winner will visit Tampa Bay on Monday, 12, to begin the American League Championship Series at 18:00 Mexico City time. That same Monday, the Dodgers and Brewers have their second game at 15:00 Mexico City time. The start times have been converted from the official schedule and may change if MLB reschedules games.
Dates worth saving
The Championship Series are best-of-seven. In the National League, the games on 16, 18, and 19 of October are subject to necessity; the same applies to the games on 17, 19, and 20 in the American League. Not all of those games are guaranteed to be played: a series ends when a team reaches four wins.
The World Series begins on 23 of October and, if it goes the full seven games, would conclude on 31. The networks listed by MLB in its schedule correspond to the announced U.S. offering; they should not automatically be assumed to apply in Mexico without checking local rights.
The schedule combines confirmed games with others that depend on the series continuing. Before planning a gathering or buying a ticket, check whether the game is still necessary and whether MLB has kept the announced start time.
