Gorillaz has two Mexican dates in different formats on the official calendar: Friday, November 20, as part of Corona Capital in Mexico City, and Wednesday, December 9, at Coliseo GNP Seguros in Zapopan. The second is scheduled for 21:00. Choosing between them means deciding between a festival with several artists and a standalone show.

The difference goes beyond the city. At Corona Capital, you share the day with other concerts and have to work out overlaps and travel between stages. In Zapopan, the ticket is tied to the Gorillaz event. That changes how you organize the visit, although on its own it does not allow anyone to promise a particular show length or set list.

The Mountain expands the band’s collaborations

The musical moment surrounding these dates is shaped by The Mountain, Gorillaz’s ninth studio album. The official edition includes 15 songs and artwork by Jamie Hewlett. The project maintains its visual identity around 2D, Murdoc, Noodle, and Russel, along with the guest musicians whose participation characterizes its catalog.

The album’s official page highlights The Happy Dictator with Sparks, The Manifesto with Trueno and Proof, The God of Lying with IDLES, and Orange County with Kara Jackson. These are four specific entry points to the recent material. Rather than arriving with only a list of classics, listening to them lets you identify some of the voices that are part of this era.

There is an important distinction between an album collaboration and a live appearance: an artist being credited on a song does not automatically mean they will be in Mexico. The same applies to tour companions in other countries. The Mountain’s own promotion lists Little Simz and Deltron 3030 as support for the United States and Canada; that information does not confirm support acts for the Mexican dates.

Which ticket is right for each experience

For Mexico City, check that your Corona Capital ticket covers Friday, November 20, or is the corresponding pass. An individual ticket for another day will not get you into that performance. The festival guide also explains the differences between General, Comfort, and Plus.

In Zapopan, an additional product called Fastlane General A is listed with a warning that it does not include the event ticket. That extra access does not replace the ticket to the concert. Checking the full description helps avoid confusing an access upgrade with the purchase required for entry.

You can make your choice by asking a simple question: Do you want to dedicate the trip to Gorillaz, or enjoy a day with several artists? To prepare for either plan, The Mountain offers new material and collaborations worth recognizing. The final set list and its guests depend on the announcement for each performance, not on the album credits.
